Classical Music meets Celtic Folk

i Coristi Chamber Choir, with Music Director Rob Curtis, and Resident Accompanist Ariane Lowrey presents “Isles of Song”, the first concert in its 22nd season. The first half of the concert includes a variety of works by 20th- and 21st-century British composers, James MacMillan (Scotland), Paul Mealor (Wales), Charles Stanford (Ireland), and John Rutter (England).

The Celtic folk tradition takes over in the second half of the concert with music by Michael McGlynn and the Canadian premiere of "Irish Mass" by French composer, Gilles Mathieu.

Guest performers include, Vaughan String Quartet (recent recipients of an Edmonton Arts Council Project Grant), with renowned Celtic musicians: Keri Lynn Zwicker, Celtic Harp; Cam Neufeld, fiddle; Spencer Murray, Celtic whistles, uilleann pipes; and Nathan McCavana, bodhrán.

This concert will also mark the debut of Kimberley McMann as i Coristi’s new Assistant Conductor. Kimberley grew up in Riverview, New Brunswick, where she began her performing career as a Celtic musician. She completed her Master’s Degree in Choral Conducting from the University of Alberta in 2011.

The audience is invited to attend a reception catered by Upper Crust Cafe, and is encouraged to bring donations for Edmonton's Food Bank.

Concert tickets are available NOW through Tix on the Square.
